ARP Main Stud Kit (250ci - 7 main)
ARP Main Stud Kit (250ci - 7 main)

Main Stud Kit for 250ci motor only. The- 42 piece set includes studs, washers and nuts.

ARP® Bolts and Studs are approximately ten times stronger than OEM fasteners. For most performance applications, studs are recommended over bolts. Studs make it much easier to assembly an engine, assuring the cylinder head and gasket are properly aligned. Studs also provide more accurate and consistent torque loading, which aids the prevention of cylinder head gasket leaks.

For more information on ARP Bolts and Studs, please read our
ARP Tech Article. The article also includes tips for installing ARP Bolts and Studs, and the recommended torque specs.

NOTE: When installing main studs on a 250ci, the clearance between one stud and the oil pump it really tight. It will clear as is, but the pump will rub against the stud. Therefore, for proper clearance, you first need to cut the stud off flush with the nut, once its torqued down. Then grind a little material off the oil pump side wall, which is pretty thick at this point. This won't damage the oil pump, so there's no need to worry about it.  I'll try to post pics shortly.

NOTE: When installing cylinder head studs on the small six, you need to make sure the front head stud, on the exhaust side of the motor, does not project deep enough as to interfere with the water pump impeller. This must be verified prior to starting the motor, as failure to do so may damage the water pump impeller. If the stud is to long, simply remove the stud and grind off the excess. This stud is also a wet stud (in contact with engine coolant), therefore you must use ARP thread sealer (or equivalent) to prevent leakage or rust. This also helps stud removal down the road. Without thread sealer it may be very difficult to remove, and it could break off, which really makes it a problem. So do yourself a favor and use thread sealer.
