When rebuilding a motor, the most commonly over looked parts are the motor mounts, transmission mounts, and the harmonic balancer. Failure of these parts can lead to costly and unnecessary repairs which can be dangerous, even life threatening, if a catastrophic failure happens at the wrong time. As such, you need to inspect your old parts carefully. This is especially true of the harmonic balancer. If it shows any signs of wear and tear, small cracks or fractures in the metal parts or the rubber insert, or a worn key-way, it needs to be replaced.
While our Performance Street Balancers may look like a stock OEM replacement part, they're far from it. The limiting factor with stock replacement and rebuilt balancers, is that they use weak cast gray-iron parts that can crack in the key-way and/or center webbing. Stock OEM balancers also use a pressed in rubber inertia ring, which is prone to spinning and/or component separation, especially as they dry out over time. Rebuilt balancers, which are normally bonded, are far better than stock OEM replacement balancers. However they still use the old cast gray-iron parts, which limits their application to engines that rarely exceed 5000 rpm. Our Performance Street Balancers solve this problem by using new high strength nodular iron components, which are machined to precise OEM tolerances. Next a state of art bonding process is utilized, which uses extreme heat and pressure to positively bond the dampening compound to the new metal components, Finally, our Performance Street balancers are dynamically balanced at the factory to ensure smooth operations adn increased engine life. Our Performance Street balancers offer excellent reliability for stock and/or mild performance engines. By using new high strength nodular iron components and a superior bonding process, the common failures that are associated with stock and/or rebuilt balancers is virtually eliminated, thus increasing their performance capabilities to 6500 rpm. While our bonded Rebuilt Balancers have four times the strength of inserted rubber, in push apart and torque tests, our Performance Street balancers have nine times the strength of inserted rubber and two and a half times that of our Rebuilt balancers.
