Road & Track Test #1

Here is a update on the test results for the New Aluminum Cylinder Head, and our trip on the Hot Rod 2007 Power Tour.

While on the Power Tour, we were in heavy STOP and GO traffic for hours at a time, with temperatures reaching in the upper 90's. It took us all most 2 hours on Saturday just to get out of the parking lot and on the road. The engine temps reached as high as 210 degrees while sitting in traffic, moving inches at a time, and as low as 160 degrees when purring down the highway. We experience NO problems with the new aluminum head, and the car ran great through-out the trip.

The engine had plenty of power for passing, accelerating out of toll booths, and getting on the highway. My buddy even commented that he would run his SBF pretty hard when we were coming off the ramps, onto the highway, yet every time he looked in his rearview mirror I was still there. He was quite surprised, as on previous trips he would always pull away from me, then have to wait for me to catch back up. Before the head swap, I had a rough time burning rubber, however with the new aluminum head I can roll along at 10mph, hit the gas, and break them loose.

I would say the most fun was pulling into the venues or motel parking lots and have people tell me that that my car sounded great and then trying to guess what I had under the hood. Then to open the Hood to show them that it really was a six (lots of FREE beer). The best was in Cleveland at the first stop. These 4 guys walked up to me in the Motel parking lot and tell me I had one sweet sounding 351 with a series "B" cam in it. I told the guy that I had a series "C" cam, to which he responded "No Way", that is a series "B" cam (all the time, his companions are telling me this guys knows his Fords). Buy this time my buddy was about to bust a gut listening to me, and had to walk away. Well all I can say is I got MORE FREE BEER when I open the hood.

Here is my Time Slip From Memphis Motor sports Park. Keep in mind that I'm on a 2600 mile trip with all my STUFF still in the car and 3/4 tank of fuel. (I would say some where in the 300lbs range, including TOOLS, COOLER, etc.) The info below I had #68 jets in the carb. but going to keep upping them and see how the plugs look (#70's as of 6/17/2007 and still looking good). I also have a T5 Ford Racing 5 speed tranny.
