Our Electric Choke Conversion Kit replaces the stock hot air choke housing. The kit comes complete with a new billet aluminum choke housing, a Weber electric choke cap, the retainer plate, and instructions.
We have found that 9 out of 10 Autolite 1100-1V carbs have a warped choke housing, which is probably the result of the hot air being pulled up from the exhaust manifold. Unfortunately most people never notice it, even when they are rebuilding their carb, so the problem goes unresolved. And even if you did notice, there was no way of fixing it, until now.
Classic Inlines has two new billet housings, one to replace the stock housing (hot air), and one to convert the choke to electric. Both housings are considerably beefier than the stock housing, to prevent warpage, both are made from high quality billet aluminum, and they come with a new brass bushing and all the parts you need for installation.
The electric choke kit comes with a high quality Weber Electric Choke Cap, and is ideal for those who are installing headers. Up until now, the only other option when installing headers, was our extra long choke tube, which works well providing your existing choke housing isn't warped. And we're betting it is.
Sometimes it's easy to see the warpage by eye, but sometimes it's not. To test, see if you can insert a piece of paper between the housing and the cap. If you can, it's warped. Not only does this prevent the hot air choke from operating properly, it also creates a vacuum leak, which results in a lean fuel mixture throughout the entire RPM range, especially when manifold vacuum is high.
