Our 1V Phenolic Spacers help to prevent issues associated with heat soak (carburetor getting too hot due to heat transfer), such as hard starting and vapor locks, by insulating the carburetor from engine and exhaust heat. A cooler carb also provides a denser fuel mixture, which  improves engine performance. 

Our spacers are only 3/16" thick, so hood clearance issues shouldn't be a problem.
